Excellent build. Aluminium faceplate reduces vibrations which may come from the front baffle to the tweeter. Troels Gravesen and others have measured the distortion to be extremely low even down to 1.5KHz, thus allowing for low crossover frequencies in 2-way designs.

It's a fabric dome, plus it's a ring radiator, all of which gives it a more mellow sound. It works very well for almost all speaker projects mated with all sorts of midbass drivers. I will be using it in 2-way designs with the SB17CRC and SB17NRX drivers.

I bought it to build my custom passive subwoofer system and it turned out to be amazing sound setup.

It is an amazing sound quality product.,first i purchased sb acoustic woofer+ tweeter pair before 2 year,for my home,I very much like it..now I again purchased this model for my car too..I have jbl gto 609 c in my car ..it's sound is very punchy so I don't like it..so I changed j to sb - it's sound is very silky smooth & sharp...jbl is nothing in front of sb acoustic drivers,i strongly recommend this for the Audiophiles..very cristal clear sound at an attractive price,my friend box maker ambadi sasidharan keralam introduced sb for me

Air core inductor quality is very good. It's a 16 gauge inductor, nice coat of varnish applied to protect the wire insulation which also helps main the circular shape. It's a correct match for my crossover design.

Pros:
1. Smooth, refined, and non-fatiguing sound.
2. Excellent off-axis performance.
3. Low distortion and high clarity.
4. Flexible crossover options.
5. Strong price-to-performance ratio.

Cons:
1. Not the most “sparkly” or ultra-analytical tweeter (some may find it slightly relaxed).
2. Large faceplate may need careful cabinet design.
3. Compared to beryllium or Satori series, ultimate resolution is a step below.

Recently I have purchased 4 Nos of air core inductors of 0.35mH.
Quality is good and pure copper coil.
Some one posted a negative review about the inductor saying that these are aluminum coils.
These are tinned copper and not aluminum. You can see the copper color by scratching the tip.
Go for it without hesitation.

I installed these in my 3 way speaker system along with dayton audio tweeter and eminence midranges. Installed high end 3 way crossover. And, I must say they have e exceeded my expectations. For a small hall (20 ft by 15 ft) I don't even need subwoofer for lower frequencies. These don't even break sweat and dive down straight to sub 40 hz with great ease provided they are powered with a good amp - yes they are power hungry. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would return for any future requirements
